🎖️ San Francisco Veterans Day Parade Recap

No one does a parade better than Asiya Shriners. You might say. “Parades are Us!”

The Veterans Day Parade was no exception.  The doors were opened at Asiya Shriners at 7:00am, We gathered in the dining room for coffee and donuts, plus some breakfast goodies, prepared, by the Section Crew. At 8:30AM we were loaded, the Temple Van, The Arabian Trailer and the Corvette Trailer,  and headed to SF Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Veterans Day Parade. Once there, additional breakfast goodies were served up. Our number was 22, and we knew we would be through the parade in short time. The parade stepped off at 11:11AM; we reached the  beginning  of the parade by 11:25am and were through the parade by 12 Noon. The Patrol carried the flags, followed by the Divan the Section Crew and the Arabians’ trailer. The Corvettes started the parade, but driving a Corvette in reverse, really doesn’t work well. A Section Crew story for sure!! The weather was perfect for the parade. We were well received and greeted by the sideliners along the route. “Let’s make some noise,” she said, and we did!

At the finish of the parade, we were able to park our vehicles on Hyde St, hill, near Bay St. While we loaded the remaining vehicles on to the Arabian trailer, it was noticed that the BV Café was just a few short steps away, and home of the World-Famous Irish Coffee. It was suggested that a visit to the BV was in order, if for no other reason, than to sample the best Irish Coffee in the world, and introduce this special coffee, to a few Nobles present, who were in the dark, about this wonderful concoction. It was a pleasant ride back to the Shrine.

When we arrived at the Shrine, and while we were putting the equipment away,  Paul Salamy finished setting up lunch.  It was another good day for Asiya Shriners. Being in the parade is what we do, and being a Shriner is all about!
